On our way to Death Valley today, we passed what remains of a 1920s Art Deco gas station in Lemon Cove, California.

We have left the lush, green, central California valley; the landscape is different here.

Cliffs…

...and a cinder-cone volcano in Red Rock State Park, California.

And then we entered breathtaking Death Valley.
